| The problem of cities and the relationship between city and region are paid more attention in the history of regional economics. With the development of city, the city, especially the great certral city plays more and more important role in the national economy as a growth pole. This dissertation is to study the regional effect of a certral city development under the theoretical framework of regional economics.The regional effect of the certral city development refers to its effect on regional economy and regional spatial structure during the dynamic process of a regional spatial structure. This is not only a static problem which has relation to the current characteristic of regional spatial structure, but also a dynamic problem related to the economic development and the evolvement of regional spatial structure. Based on the theoretical framework and logic system stated above, the thesis studies the regional effect of Wuhan City to Wuhan city cirle using the theories and methods of regional economics.This thesis comprises six chapters. Chapter I briefly introduces the background firstly and the practical and theoretical significance of this research. Chapter II makes a theoretical analysis on the regional effect of the economic development of central city, and builds up a general theoretical framework. Chapter III analyses the development process of Wuhan since 1843, and the regional spatial structure evolvement of Wuhan city circle. Chapter IV studies the unbalance economic development of Wuhan and Wuhan city circle since 1978 from macroscopical angle. Using gravity model, this chapter focuses on studing the current regional spatial structure of Wuhan city circle. Chapter V studies the changes and spatial distribution of the industry in Wuhan. Firstly, this chapter analyses the current development of the industries. Secondly, using the method of regional economics, this chapter discusses the spatial distribution and the regionaleffects of the manufacturing industries in Wuhan city circle. Lastly, this chapter studies the development of the service industry of Wuhan, inducing its current situation, problems and capacity. Chapter VI concluds deepens the analysis of the previous; This chapter analyses the regional service function of Wuhan under the background of global economy. This chapter also indicates that both the promotion of the function of Wuhan and the harmoneous development of Wuhan city circle depend on the development of service industry. Based on this point of view, this chapter makes a prospect to the development of the service industry of Wuhan, and provides some sup-aestions with the useful conclusions. |
