A Study Of Livable City In Wuhan

China is one of the rapidly urbanizing countries in the world. Cities are changing from extensive ones to intensive ones. In order to conserve resources and improve the urban environment, it is urgent need to explore the urbanization development suitable to china. In this wave, a large number of cities are trying not only to be bigger and stronger, but also to be better. With the rapid development of urbanization, China has attaches importance to the construction of livable cities.The construction of livable cities started earlier in the developed Western countries. It's not a movement or a sign of urban development in the new stage of the signs, but the inevitability when an urban developed into a high-quality phase. It comes out with the urban construction process. It's the concept being gradually realized and frequently used. The concepts and standards of livable city are differently understood in china, and the practice also has different focus.In the overall urban planning of Wuhan City from 1996 to 2020, it is made clear that the urban construction objectives are to create high-quality living environment, to enhance the city's comprehensive disaster prevention system and the municipal infrastructure construction, to build a modern urban transportation system, and so on. These objectives fully embodies that Wuhan city government has taken into account of the living environment while pursuing economic development. They also reflect the "people-oriented" thinking. The purpose of this paper is to explore from the following aspects how to build Wuhan into a livable city?The first part clarifies the purpose and significance of this research, and the progress of theoretical research on livable cities oversea.The second part introduces the correlative theories. It analyzes the similarity and differences between livable cities and living environment, eco-cities, and connotations of so identifies the livable cites .The third part , the core of this thesis ,develops an indicator system suitable for i evaluating livable cities by using factor analysis. As a results , three common factors impacting livable cities are extracted and analyzed.Part four introduces experience of the typical livable city to be reference of Wuhan city construction.The fifth part introduced puts forward my own proposals on the five affects, which may most affect the construction of livable cities.It's still the foundation research on how to build Wuhan into a livable city. There are many places need to be explored deeply. After yet I'll be done more researches must be done in the future.
