Study On Assessment Of The Livability And Livable City Construction Of Jinan, China

Since the reform and opening up in1978, China’s urbanization develops rapidly.Our urban construction makes great achievements, but a series of urban problemssuch as urban crowding, traffic congestion, environmental pollution, spatial tenseand ecological deterioration had appeared at the same time. Because of theimprovement of hierarchy of needs, people are not merely content with the food andclothing, but pay more attention to the living environment and living condition.China’s urban development entered a transformation period and has put forward newpattern urbanization, livable city also causes concern. Constructing livable city,improving human settlement and promoting city’s sustainable development providereasonable reference model and feasible method to solve city’s problems. So thetheory research of livable city becomes the hotspot of experts and scholars and theconstruction livable city becomes the focus of the government and the people.This paper includes six parts:The first part is introduction. The introduction describes the background,significance, research method and research framework of livable city and generallydiscusses the research overall.The second part is theory and practice of livable city. Livable city is the citythat be suitable for people’s living, livelihood and development, the Ideal LivableCity Model is build based on its connotation and assumption. Livable city’stheoretical basis includes theory of man-earth relationship, regional sustainabledevelopment, residential environment, urban ecology and hierarchy of needs.Singapore, Melbourne, Munich, Vancouver, Copenhagen, Qingdao and Dalian arechosen as typical cities.The third part is the general situation of research area. City’s current situation isanalyzed from natural eco-environment status, economy, transportation commerceand trade. City’s problems are: outerspace is insufficient but the land is not intensive;economic development is not ideal; urban planning is not reasonable; cityenvironmental quality is poor and city traffic congestion.The fourth part is assessment of the livability.26indicators are chosen fromeconomy, society, environment and safety. Polygon graphic index method is used for objective evaluation and the result is moderate.53questions are chosen from safety,convenience, city environment, city image, economy, society and culture.Questionnaire method is used for subjective assessment and the result is moderate.The fifth part is construction thoughts of livable city. Firstly, the constraint ofconstructing livable city is analyzed. Then countermeasures and suggestions are putforward from economic, social, cultural, environment, city planning.The sixth part is epilogue. This part includes conclusion, innovation, deficiencyand research prospect.
