It is important to pay more attention to the occupational stress. With the development of the economy and the technology, the white-collar has increased to unprecedented number. As the great competition in society, the white-collar has suffered from a variety of stresses, such as role stress and job burnout, and it may result in less healthy of the employee and greater harmful of the organizations. There are a lot of researches on role stress and job burnout in abroad, while in China little have been done on this topic. There are some debate of the structures of the role stress and job burnout, and most researches focus on helping professions such as nursing, education, and social work. However the researches on role stress's structure and the relationships between role stress and job burnout haven't be analyzed perfectly in China.Based on results of foreign scholars and Taiwan scholars, I collected white-collar in some south cities as samples, and used several methods such as interview, questionarie to analyse the questions above. There were four steps to discuss: firstly, I supposed a four-factor structure of the role stress, and set up original model about relationships between role stress and job burnout; secondly, I revised the instruments of role stress and job burnout; thirdly, I used the methods of factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis to validate the original model above, and then discussed the effect of the demographic characteristics and organizational characteristics; finally, some suggestions were giving.Above all, the original model has been supported partly, and the demographic characteristics and organizational characteristics play a role on the relationships between role stress and job burnout. The result of this thesis will be a supplement to the relationship between role stress and job burnout, and will help the organization to do some management of stress.
