Urbanization has an important impact on rural households'income growth. Income growth of rural households is not only an economic issue, but also a social and political issue. Increasing income of rural households is significant. The fundamental crux of the problem is the large number of agriculture surplus labor force in rural areas. The agriculture surplus labor force is not simply surplus, but is seriously surplus. Transferring the excessively massive agriculture surplus labor force is the basic starting point to increase rural households'income. In the current situation, urbanization is the only fundamental way to absorb agriculture surplus labor force effectively and substantially. Therefore, this thesis focuses on discussing the impact of urbanization on income growth of rural households. This thesis is divided into 5 chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction. First, the thesis analyzes the grim situation of low and slow growth of rural households'income, the significance of increasing rural households'income, as well as the important role of urbanization. Then, the thesis introduces the research ideas and methods. Theoretical analysis as well as empirical analysis is used together in this thesis.Chapter 2 is the literature review. The thesis sorts out systematically the basic viewpoints of several ways to increase rural households'income, such as agriculture investment, adjustment of agricultural structure, agricultural industrialization, rural industrialization, urbanization, and discusses the defects of the previous four ways as well as the advantages of urbanization. Based on the discussions above, this thesis points out the existing problems about academic research on the impact of urbanization on income growth of rural households, and the innovations are proposed as well. The innovations are as follows: First, it discusses theoretically the different impacts of urbanization on income growth of rural households under different conditions respectively, such as different economic levels, different transferring cost or different human capital. Then, with the use of relevant statistical data, it makes empirical verification from national level, inter-province level and intra-province level respectively.Chapter 3 is the theoretical analysis, which mainly focuses on discussing the general mechanism and the difference of the impact of urbanization on income growth of rural households. Urbanization can increase rural households'income, through the ways of transferring agriculture surplus labor force, saving a lot of land, improving agricultural productivity, expanding effective demand for agricultural products, promoting informal employment, driving comprehensive development of the rural economy, etc. Under different conditions, such as different economic level, different transferring cost or different human capital, the capacity of city absorbing agriculture surplus labor force is different, so that the growth of income is different.Chapter 4 is the empirical analysis. With the use of relevant statistical data, the thesis makes empirical verification from national level, inter-province level and intra-province level respectively. And the conclusions, which have already been advanced in chapter 3, are confirmed. The conclusions are as follows: Under different economic levels, namely under different income levels of rural households, the effect of urbanization on income growth of rural households is different, and the higher the rural households'income is in the region, the more remarkable the income growth is.Chapter 5 is the conclusions and discussions, summarizing the main content of this thesis and suggesting the further study program in the future.
