With the development of tourism, ecotourism has already become one of the important directions of traveling. It has become a trend of 21st century tourism industry. But there are many problems of developing ecotourism, especially in ecotourism planning. A fine planning is the assurance of ecotourism. Although there are many ecotourism planning, but the good and bad are intermingled, because lack of assurance of technique. So ecotourism planning need take a technical support system. It is necessary to bring Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in it based on the previous research.Firstly, The thesis have analysed the functions of the present research situations on GIS use in ecotourism planning at home and abroad. The thesis discusses the developing trend of GIS use in ecotourism planning. The author designs and exploits GIS in Langya Mountain Forest Park based on the software of Maplnfo and relative theories. Then discuss the technological methods of MapInfo use in ecotourism planning.(1) The author builds classification and coding system of Langya Mountain Forest Park, then builds ecotourism database of the park. The system includes 8-classifier codes, 37-characteristic codes and 156-basic types(2) It is emphasized that the park's tourism resources show the characteristics of "strap"and "circle" by SQL query, buffer zone and overlay analysis with MapInfo based on ecotourism database of the park. This thesis builds a quantitative evaluation system of forest ecotourism resources by AHP etc, including 3 class, 14 subclass and 31 indexes, and 4 ranks of tourism resources are put forward. The result of comprehensive evaluation shows that the park is rich in artificial and natural tourism resources, and it has a good regional condition, which is complementary to peripheral tourism resources, and it is fit for ecotourism and Red Tourism.(3) The park is divided functional districts by the structural and spatial characters of tourism resources, quantitative evaluation of tourism resources with Maplnfo. The park is dividing functional districts of Langya area Cangutuo area and ecotourism area.(4) The road length, scenic spots distances and park area are account with MapInfo.The capacity are calculated and analyzed, quick, simple and convenient by means of line and acreage method. The result shows that the growth of tourists is under control.(5) The maps are drawn with MapInfo, neat and beautiful, easy to conservation and amount of information, achieved the cartographic visualization. GIS compared with traditional hand-drawing has apparente advantage.The innovations of this research is build and perfect classification and coding systems of forest park based on -the "China Classification, Investigation and Evaluation of Tourism Resources "centrusted by Chinanational Tourism Administration. This thesis builds a quantitative evaluation system of forest ecotourism resources by AHP etc. The park is divided functional districts by the location structural and spatial characters of tourism resources, quantitative evaluation of tourism resources and SQL query, buffer zone and overlay analysis with MapInfo.
