In order to decrease cost, increase income and survive in the competitive marketing environment, the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) has shown a strong interest in ERP construction and gradually become the main forces in the development of ERP market. However, the application of ERP in SME is not so successful. More than ninety percent of those enterprises believe the application of ERP hasn't lived up to their expectation. One of the most important reasons is the inappropriate purchasing of ERP softwares. Therefore, this dissertation will try to establish standard ERP selection process and set appropriate criterions.This dissertation includes five parts. The first part is introduction. It has stated the background of this topic and analyzed the existed ERP selection problems of Chinese SME. At last the research routine has been made. The second part is document overview. It has summarized the present situation of SME's ERP selection and given a comparison between home and abroad. The third part has given a definition of Chinese SME and analyzed characteristics of its required ERP softwares as well as the driving force and constraints in its ERP implementation. The fourth part includes the fourth chapter to the seventh chapter. They have described the whole process of Chinese SME's ERP selection, including in planning process, information searching process, selection of softwares process and negotiation & contract process.In the fourth chapter, the AHP decision model, put forward by Chun-Chin Wei and so on, has been modified and specified to meet the needs of Chinese SME's ERP selection. In the fifth chapter, it has analyzed the main suppliers and softwares in the ERP market as well as compared the home ERP softwares with the foreign ones. In the sixth chapter, the improved AHP decision model has been used into case study. In the seventh chapter, it has stated the general content of an ERP contract and pointed out some aspects that should be aware of in the negotiation & contract process. The last part is conclusion, in which the contribution of this dissertation and the work, which should be improved further, has been stressed.
