Studies On The Spatial Structure And Organization Of Urban Residential Spots In Xi'an City

Nowadays, Xi'an is in the urbanization rapidly developing period, but thedeep relationship among urbanization level, urban land use and regional harmoniousdevelopment had not been made clear. The relationship between the spatialcharacteristics of urban residential spots which takes up the most proportion of urbanland use, and regional population, resource, and environment is relatively disordered.However, traditional urban research focuses on the production function, and researcheson urban land use are mainly about city economy and industrial structure, and that abouturban residential spots is comparatively limited. Besides, during the recent decades, aseries of national housing policy reformations spurred the formation of real estatemarket and residents private course. Under the new circumstance, the traditional"uniform" inhabitant pattern had been broken gradually, and the new spatialcharacteristics of urban residential spots began to appear. This essay focused on PREDproblems and adopted statistics data and ETM remote sense pictures, using GIS softwareARCINFO and ARCVIEW to analyse the spatial information of urban residential spotsin Xi'an. Basing on the analyses about the regional background, this essay studied onthe spatial structure and time process of urban residential spots evolution in Xi'an. Thisessay adopted proportion of residential land use, separating size index and relativedistance index to describe the spatial structure and landscape characteristics of urbanresidential spots in Xi'an. Also, adopted residential spots expansion index to show thespatial and time evolution characteristics. Then, this essay analysed the driving factorsand principles, and designed the effective models of urban residential spots in Xi'anwhose spatial structure are harmonious with urban land use. At last, the essay discussedthe safeguard measures for above models.The achievement will benefit the spatial structure and reorganization theory ofurban residential spots in rapidly urbanization area. Simultaneity, there are certainpractical value in many aspects, such as arranging distribution of industry and cites inareas with high city density, optimizing spatial structure of urban residential spots,harmonizing the relationship between population, resource, environment anddevelopment. The research achievement will provide information and gists forcorrelative government departments. Conclusions draw from the study can be illustrated as follows:(1) Integrally speaking, the construction land use level in Xi'an was adscendent,and the land use efficiency was improved gradually;(2) The distribution difference of urban residential spots land use proportion inXi'an can be divided into 4 grades.(3) There are spatial difference in the distribution of urban residential spots inXi'an.(4) The spatial structure of urban residential spots in Xi'an can be divided into 3types: city type, outskirts type and exurb type.(5) The driving mechanism of urban residential spots evolution in Xi'an can beanalyzed from inner, middle and exterior scales.(6) The spatial organization modes of urban residential spots in Xi'an can bedivided into 3 types: city type, outskirts type and exurb type.The innovations of the thesis are illustrated as follows:(1) Based on GIS technology, the essay adopted RS as spatial information resourceto reflect the spatial dynamic structure timely and accurately.(2) From both land use and landscape angles, aiming at the duple characteristics ofspace and social economy, the essay researched the spatial structure traits of urbanresidential spots in Xi'an, and illustrated its evolution principles.(3) Based on the analyses of spatial structure and evolution principles, the essaydiscussed the effective patterns of urban residential spots organization in Xi'an, whichare harmonious with the land use mode.
