Research On The Relations Between Urban Traffic And Urban Spatial Structure In Suzhou City

This paper is a demonstration research on the mutual relationship between urban traffic and urban spatial structure. The paper takes Suzhou city as the case and puts the research into the period from 1949 to 2008. Firstly, the paper researches the dynamic evolvement of urban spatial structure and urban traffic system. Secondly, after synthesized research, the paper discusses the law of the mutual relationship between urban traffic and urban spatial structure and the aspects of the relationship which can't fit the city goal of sustainable development. At last, the paper puts forward the main measures which arm to realize the mutual optimizing of urban traffic and urban spatial structure.In chapter 1, firstly, the structure of the paper is introduced, involves necessity, significance, framework, methodology and study area. At last, the data used in the paper is evaluated. In chapter2, a literature review is carried out, covering the books and articles on the study on mutual relationship and international mechanism between urban traffic and urban spatial structure done by foreign and Chinese scholars. Secondly, Based on the analyzing of the changes of social economic background of Suzhou city, chapter 3 analyzes the evolvement characters of the urban traffic and urban spatial structure in Suzhou city after 1949. Through the theoretical study and case study, Chapter 4 probes into effect and influencing mechanism that urban traffic impacts on urban spatial scale, urban space conformation, urban function location. Chapter 5 discusses the effect and influencing mechanism that urban spatial structure impacts on the layout of the urban traffic and urban traffic pattern. Chapter 6 studies problems that exist in the interaction of urban traffic and urban spatial structure in Suzhou. Chapter 7 lists some contents of the harmony between urban traffic and urban spatial structure. Then, it brings forward some measures to harmonize the relationship of urban traffic and urban spatial structure.
