A Comparative Study On Urban Competitiveness Of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Of China

With the naissance of the city, the competitions among cities come into being, it relates to politics, economy, culture and some other aspects. Especially with the deepening economic globalization, city has played an more important role in the countries and regions. The competition among cities has become more and more fierce. After entering into WTO, many cities of China suffer the pressure of the international urban competition. In order to get the rapid development, the government of each city needs to know what's the key to the city's development and competition, and to find what the right position is and what are the advantage and the disadvantage of themselves. The cities of eastern China developed fast, while the cities of western developed slowly, the gap among cities bring out lots of social problem. Xinjiang has the vast territory and the unbalanced economic strength, and the urban competitiveness of Xinjiang is lower than other cities, so it is impossible to improve the urban competitiveness of Xinjiang.By combining the knowledge of geography economics as well as other related fields of study and employing them into greatest play, this paper makes a specific analysis on urban competitiveness. The strategies for how to cope with Xinjiang urban competitiveness are also presented in the article on the basis of city rankings and types.The paper consists of four parts. The prefatory part mainly introduces the background and the significance. The second part is the most important one, it appraises actualities of Xinjiang urban competitiveness by Principal Component Analysis and Hierarchical Cluster Procedures. The third part suggests the countermeasures to improve urban competitiveness. The last part is conclusion. It concludes the shortages of the paper.
