Research On The Sustainable Development Of Ecological Tourism In Hainan Province

Ecological tourism is increasingly attracting attention of tourist and academic circles in various countries. As an important approach which can promote the coordinated development of economy, resources, environment and tourism, ecological tourism has become a much heated area and trend for tourism development in today's world.As the problems incurred for long by the traditional development model of mass tourism are popping up, tourism in Hainan is travailing along the way of sustainable development. As a new model for tourism sustainable development, ecological tourism inevitably becomes the way out with its multi-functions.Based on the relevant current research and practices on ecological tourism home and abroad,and based on the summary of relevant definitions and theories concerning ecological tourism, the paper conducts a SWOT analysis of the sustainable development for Hainan ecological tourism and makes a study on the strategy construction for the development. The paper consists of five parts:The first part delineates the background and significance of the study, makes an introduction of current research and practices, and expounds the content and innovations and approaches adopted in the paper.The second part deals with the definition concerning ecological tourism and the theories available. Such definitions and connotation of ecological tourism offered by scholars home and abroad as ecological tourism, mass tourism, sustainable tourism and nature tourism are differentiated in the paper. And the introduction of relevant theories on sustainable development for ecological tourism, including theories on sustainable development, ecological ethics and scenery ecology, is rendered.The third part conducts a SWOT analysis of sustainable development of ecological tourism in Hainan province. Based on the present situation of ecological tourism in Hainan, the paper emphasizes the significance of strengthening ecological tourism development in Hainan and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of ecological tourism development in Hainan.The fourth part makes a study on the strategy construction for the future ecological tourism development in Hainan. It asserts the concept of sustainable development on ecological tourism in Hainan, offers a series of perspectives and value orientations for ecological tourism development in Hainan, analyses the strategy and model of sustainable development of ecological tourism in Hainan. In conclusion, a set of strategic idea , principles and development model is proposed. In the part, the qualitative and quantitative approaches are adopted in order to establish an indicator framework for evaluating the sustainable development of ecological tourism in Hainan. Besides, a study on the development of tourist products series and marketing strategy in sustainable development of Hainan ecological tourism, on the security system construction for ecological tourism development is included.The final part is the conclusion and outlooks.
