With the lasting growth of the world information industry and the economic globalization, the telecommunication companies are moving towards the globalcompetition. China Mobile Limited will face the keen competition from domestic and foreign 3G (The 3rd Generation Technology of Mobile communication) players in the future. Meanwhile, the business model and the industry value chain are undergoing big changes compared with 2G. During the new competition of the 3G market, China Mobile Limited should accordingly work out its development strategy to achieve an advantageous position for the future competition.3G has drawn more and more attention since its appearance. 3G services have been started all over the world and developed rapidly in recent years, they became the focus of global economy development and drew the attention from the whole society. China is the largest mobile communication market in the world, the development of 3G will influence the global communication industry significantly and will create huge business opportunities, therefore the development of 3G in China has become the focus of the global communication industry and media.With the increasing mature of the three major 3G technological standards (WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA) ,transform competitions of the mobile communication technology have been more and more intense. Though 3G-operation license granting is yet not clear, the 3G technology has been imperative in our country. Now the corresponding departments of the government have started to recombine the telecommunication industry before 3G. In such a period of dispute, the dissertation is to perform SWOT analysis of 3G development environment for China Mobile Limited, and offer suggestions to China Mobile Limited for the strategic positioning based on the analysis of Japanese operators' strategic positioning,combining with China Mobile Limited's current situation. In the end, through the research of the development of 3G services abroad, the dissertation prospectively analyzes a series of strategy development problems in the competitive environment of the 3G market that China Mobile Limited may face in the future,the problems include SP/CP cooperation, user development, service , price ,network building, terminal cooperation and brand, in the dissertation the author studied out the strategy for China Mobile Limited toward their current situation and characters, offered a direction for China Mobile Limited in a new round of market competition to avoid out of order of same quality competition and resources waste and guarantee China Mobile Limited to devise strategies within a command tent when the 3G market opens, assure business opportunities and succeedin the new mobile communication market.
