Study On Direction Of Adjustment Of Agricultural Structure In Southeast Tibet

Mi lin county is in the southeast of Tibet, and it is the north gate of our motherland.The local stereo climate is evident, the water and tour resources are abundant, the area of forest covering accounted more than 85% of the total land area, and the labour force of farming accupy over 90% of the rural population. The total agricultural production value in the whole county was 7406.1 myria-yuan in 2005, of which the percentage of the plant farming value and animal husbandry value were respectively 43% and 40%. The percentage of cereal crops area and economic crops area were respectively 81.3% and 15.9% in the area of plant farming.The main problem of agriculture structure in Milin county were as follows: Firstly, the proportion of plant farming was bigger than other forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, moreover, cereal crops had absolute superiority and the effectiveness was low. Secondly, the pastureland degenerated and the utilized ratio of the pastureland was low in animal husbandry production.The breeds of animal and poultry were aged and the commodity ratio was low. Thirdly, It was difficult to transfer labor force from country, the income channel of peasants and herdsmen was narrow, the construction of basic facility in agriculture was lagging and the development of production in plant farming and animal husbandry was slow.On the basis of analysis of resource advantage, market demands and the main problems exsited in plant farming and animal husbandry, adjustment direction of agriculture structure in southeast Tibet was suggested in this paper: Firstly, the planting areas of economic crops should be importantly increased in the adjustment of plant farming, such as rapeseed, pea and vegetable, fruit and flower etc. The introduction of novel varieties should be increasing, the improvement of local varieties should be enhanced, and the development of local tibetan drugs should be reinforced on the basis of their being protected. Secondly, The introduction, spread and application of new animal and poultry breeds should be strengthed , the proportion of propagating dams should be increased, and the local characteristic tibetan chicken breeding should be developed. Thirdly, the series of highland barley food, processing technics of yak beef, forest products and tibetan drugs, etc. should be emphatically exploited in the processing of the agricultural products.
