Corporate culture is the common norm, belief and pursuit of staffs. It has the formidable psychological exciting force, energetic force and energy alluring force, and permeates the atmosphere between the groups, maintains and leads all members, guides them to make great efforts to the goal. Excellent corporate culture is very important for building corporation competing power. Nowadays more and more corporations already realize that the important meaning of the construction of corporate culture. With the development of economic globalization, the cultural fusion is impelled tremendously, and the competition between companies has evolved into competition through Corporate Culture. And most successful enterprises have very good Corporate Cultures. The former CEO of GE points out that culture is one of the competitive element which never be replaced. Culture has great influence on corporation's performance. To some extent, Corporate Culture determines the success of a corporation. Although there are a great many books and articles on Corporate Culture, I found few especially dedicated to comparison of Chinese and American Corporate Cultures. After China's entry into the WTO, Chinese enterprises meet serious competitions that they had never come up against in the past. So I'm trying to do some study in this field. I really hope that my study would make sense to those who are concerned about Chinese corporate culture development. This thesis explores the differences in corporate culture that exist between Chinese enterprises and American ones, and a comparison is done between them. The data used for this thesis were gained through questionnaires distributed to and collected from some enterprises in Dalian. The study was conducted and the questionnaires were designed on the basis of Michael Zwell theory. The survey was held in March 2007, producing a total of 200 questionnaires. The thesis shows that five of the hypotheses I put forward from the perspectives of are correct, but one of them are proved to be contrary to the real results. Then, based on the results, I further explore the cultural reasons which arouse the differences.
