Study On The Relationship Between Ownership Structure And Corporate Performance Of Joint-Stock Commercial Bank

With the background of innovation in China's commercial bank system, the study on China's commercial bank corporation governance is of important significance in theory and reality. As the basis of corporation governance, suitable ownership structure directly affects the efficiency of corporation governance, and finally causes important influence on corporate performance of commercial bank. With the annual reports of 5 listed joint-stock commercial banks in China, this paper selects some representative financial data to extract comprehensive performance index with the method of principle components. And taking the variables of ownership structure as independent ones and comprehensive performance as dependent variables to establish regression model, this paper makes an empirical study on the relationship between ownership structure and corporate performance of joint-stock commercial bank.The empirical result shows that the relationship between the proportion of national stock and corporate stock and the performance of joint-stock commercial bank is positive; the relationship between the proportion of public stock and its performance is negative, the stock proportion of first owner and the ability of stock-control of the first owner have negative effects on its performance; the stock proportion of the first ten owners has no linear relationship on its performance; the circulate stock proportion has negative relationship on bank performance, and the relationship between the non-circulate stock proportion and its performance is positive. Finally, in connection with the problems of ownership structure of China's joint-stock commercial banks, this paper puts forward some thoughts and suggestions for improving ownership structure and raising corporate governance efficiency of China's joint-stock commercial banks.
