The Empirical Research On The Competitiveness Of Commercial Banks In China

Finance is the core of the modern economy, and the banking is the pillar industry of the financial circles. Along with the moment's arrival when financial transaction will be open all-sided, which will cause the competition between the foreign bank and the domestic commercial bank, and during the domestic commercial banks. If the whole competitiveness of the commercial bank in our country can't be improved effectively, some serious problems that can influence the financial stability and even overall economic development may appear. So, it undoubtedly has sizeable academic and practical value that to carry on objective, overall analysis and appraisal to the present competitiveness state of the commercial banks in our country and make the effective tactics that can promote their competitiveness.Firstly, includes putting forward the question and proposing the thinking of research. The chapter II based on the general theory of enterprise's competitiveness, this paper explains the basic conception and characteristic of enterprise's competitiveness, and makes clear the different evaluating theories all over the world. And in chapter III, the appraisal system and approach are fixed. Then they are used to appraise the sample banks' competitiveness in chapter IV, these banks are the part of the top 16 Chinese-funded banks issued by England ((The Banker)) in 2006 . At last, the conclusion is drawn in chapter V, this paper accordingly puts forward a series of measures and strategies on basis of combining with the actual conditions of our commercial banks and drawing on the foreign banks' successful experience for reference.The main characteristic and innovation of this paper lie in three following aspects. Firstly, a multilevel index system is established in this paper consisting of all the major key elements, which solves the problem in existing competitiveness evaluation study which only concerns the current, security and profitability in banks' finance neglecting the comprehensiveness or dividing the hierarch of evaluation index system. Secondly, the entropy weight that is objective used the factor analysis method, that is realistic and rational are synthetically used in the appraisal. Thirdly, in the evaluation indexes system, try to quantity some qualitative indexes, and combine the qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis.
