With the global economy development, refined copper consumption in the world appears to be growing continuously, and thus China has acted as the key factor in determining cu consumption. However, Copper but oil is the 2nd strategic resource being short for China. Excessively relying on the overseas resource can restrict China's development in copper industry. After joining the WTO, domestic copper producer now is facing a competition pressure coming from both the international and domestic. As a large state-owned enterprise, established in 1979, Jiangxi Copper Corporation, experiencing operation for 27-year-long, has become the copper leader in Jiangxi industrial field and China copper industry, and has contributed much to the provincial economic development. Today Jiangxi Copper Corporation is confronted with increasingly fierce market competition. The most important topic that Jiangxi Copper Corporation must be facing in the globalization competition turns out to be how to seize opportunities, how to embrace challenges, so as to determine a well-suited strategic direction, and to formulate practical and feasible development strategies.In the first instance, the article sets for the relevant background, and evaluates the current strategy of JCC from a realistic perspective, which is conducted according to overseas and domestic theory findings with regards to enterprise development strategy management. The article proposes that JCC should use a global perspective and worldwide vision to study its own development strategy. Through the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of the cored & diversified strategy, the article highlights the advantage of current strategy and points out the existing limitations. The article also dissertates the company positioning, strategic target, overall strategy, and brought forward relevant modification proposals, which enables the company strategy much more realistic, competitive and challenging. At last, the article makes elaborate analysis to the core issues within JCC's development strategy, such as: resource strategy, union strategy, technological innovation strategy and globalization strategy.On the basis of researching and analyzing strategy management theory, the article analyzes the development strategies of JCC by utilizing the theory and methods of strategy management and gives out constructive designs, which intends to provide reference and suggestions to the company's decision makers with respect to formulating and consummating the company's strategies and implementing strategy management.
