Rail Transportation Oriented Land Use Research Of Edge City

As a new city and key region of urbanization, edge city has decided the speed and efficiency of urbanization process directly. Land-using of edge city is not just impacting regional development, but also restricting the overall development of metropolis. Scientific deployment of its land-using is full of far-reaching significance. At present such domestic concerns of edge city is still at an early stage, and its land-using study is limited. The in-depth study of edge city and its land-using will guide the urbanization process effectively.On the basis of the New Urbanism and TOD theory, this paper will extract the essence of these two theories and sum up a new scientific idea for China's new era urbanization. The paper explores relations between traffic and land-using, land-using and rail transportation, rail transportation and edge city, which demonstrates leading role of rail traffic on edge city land-using. Then combining with modern scientific concept of city development, the paper proposes the model of rail transit-oriented land-use method of edge city and implementation guidelines.At last, the paper applies the theory model in a typical edge city: Baoshan District of Shanghai, which proves the feasibility of rail transit-oriented edge city land utilization. Contrast to the original urban regional planning, this paper will show features of RTOD land-use method and make some proposes, hoping to make reference to land-use of edge city.
