Province (city) Edge Of The Area Economy Development Pattern Research

Since at the very beginning,people have paid more attention to the study of the gapbetween regional development levels,and to the gap between the urban and rural areas; alsoboth in theory and practice,the theoreticians analysize the factors causing present situationand formation of those differences,and put forward solutions and policy suggestions tonarrow the gap,However,they ignore the gap between the central region and edge areaswithin a province.For such economic phenomenon,there’re mainly three fundamentalquestions:the first is how to solve contradictions between the edge areas’ economicdevelopment and the free flow of resource elements;The second is how to coordinate thecommon development of the edge areas, avoiding internal improper competition and externalincoordination;The third is how to deal with economic radiation that crosses from theadministration center to the fringe areas.With this problem,this paper,firstly from a theoretical perspective,defines the differencesamong the concept of " the edge area",the space-time evolving laws and theoreticalmechanism of action, and summarizes the main obstacles and coordination mechanism in itseconomic development.And then,with economic belt surrounding Chongqing city in Sichuanprovince as research scope, this paper,from the perspective of natural geography, history,the humanities, the economy, the society and so on, makes a systematic analysis on currentlocal economic and social development situation,and also summarizes the region’s economicdevelopment characteristics. In the empirical analysis section,by using the methods ofbreaking-point analysis and the measurement and research methods,this paper makes anempirical study on the economy marginality of the20counties and areas around ChongqingCity, taking their economy-affiliation critical point0.05to Chengdu City as the economymarginality value, from their own acceptability for economic radiation, it divides the20counties into three types: economic marginalisation regions, economic common-contact area,economic close-contact area. From the perspective of the core regions’ attract to those edgeareas to build economy-graviiy model, under the influence of the special "dual-core"economic zone referring to Chengdu City and Chongqing City,we calculate theeconomy-attract of the core cities Chengdu, Chongqing to the20counties within economicbelt, according to measure results after comparison,we can get the result of three types:Chongqing economic-attract greater than Chengdu, Chongqing economic-attract less thanChengdu, Chongqing economic-attract near to Chengdu City. Summerizing the aboveeconometric analysis and comprehensive evaluation from two different point of views, these20counties can be divided into three kinds:First, the areas of the lowest economymarginality,but still within Chongqing’s economic radiation; Second,the areas of the lowereconomy marginality,under little infulence of Chongqing City; Third, Closely contact withboth Chengdu City and Chongqing City; also this paper regards this result as division basisof counties’ choice of different economic development modes.According to the comparison of those counties’ own economic development capability,and the results of comprehensive econometric analysis, we can sum up4models fit for thiseconomic belt:Relevant Mode, Integrating Mode, Node Mode and Independent Mode,which have provided a more complete theoretical perspective and analysis approach tounderstand and solve the problems of economic development fringe areas.
