To meet the variable requirement of the market, it becomes more and more important to improve the efficiency of production line , decrease the storage of half-goods and attain equalization for the pipelines. It is an popular index for the company to make the assessment on a pipeline, and it is also affect the line capability.Through studying on the theory of the assembly line balance and combining the the characteristic of the the real production line, we find it is helpful to practice the industry engineering technology. First, this paper has recounted the theory of the pipeline balance and of how to make evaluation for it. Then by the theory, the paper defined the detail methods to improve the line balance. For the model of N which is one of the most important products in our company, we found some problems on the pipeline by analyzing the situation : unreasonable measurement for cycle time; obvious neck station ; low efficiency for the use of man-machine; improper arrangement for the operation.By steps and methods of assembly line balance, the paper practice the statistic method of x-σcontrol and the study-curve, so new man-hour was made. Then following ECRS (Eliminate, Combine, Rearrange, Simplify) principle of IE and man-machine the method, we adjusted operation content and make the operation cycle reach unanimity.During the improvement, we also made the cost down for some stations, operators, machines and increased the production capacity of line greatly.Theory practice in the paper:1. To measure the man-hour with x-σmethod.2. Through study-curve, improve the man-hour.3. To use man-machine method and adjust the allocation of operator and machine.
