The Causes On Suspension Of Doha Round And Its Impact On China's Economy

In November 14th of 2001, a new round multilateral trade negotiation was started, when the 4th ministerial conference was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. After the most serious terrorist attack"911"in United States, in the time of the slowness or even drop on economy among the world's major developed countries, at the case of the willingness to promote international trade for developing countries, a new round multilateral trade negotiation is sure to give power to the world economy. But throughout the five years'difficult negotiation, the Doha Round is always full of the obstacles and slow progress in the cause of the big difference on major topic and stick to their own attitude. During the emergent session in July of 2006, the Doha Round was broken down because of tremendous bifurcation on agriculture among the core negotiants(India, Brazil, the United States, European Union, Japan, Australia). Then the main council's conference of WTO approved the suggestion about comprehensive suspension of the Doha Round from Lammy.The Doha Round had been discussed for five years, now it have to decare the comprehensive suspension. Just like Lammy, the WTO director-general, said:"facing the suspension of Doha Round, every menber must suffer a lot. So the urgent affairs are saving the Doha Round, start the negotiation again, avoiding enlarge the positive affects. Scholars home and abroad tried to find the real causes why Doha Round was broken down. They wish to provide some advice for saving the Doha Round and the system of world trade.This article is divided into three chapters. The introduction presents the practical meanings of the topic, the background knowledge, the structure of the article and the main idea. The body introduces the startup background and development progress in the Round of Uruguay and Doha respectively. Then it analyses the causes of suspention for the two round negotiation. At last, some research is given about the affect of China and the strategy that China should take.The first chapter of the article give the detailed introduction on startup background, the main topics and the development progress.
