Research On Environmental Management And Control For Construction Project

At present, China is suffering from crude model of economic growth characterized by large consumption, high pollution and low efficiency. As economic construction is developing at a high speed, conflicts among construction progress, environmental protection and energy saving have become more and more apparent and harsh. Constrains from resources bottleneck and burden of environmental protection have been dramatically deteriorated. The issue of sustainable development is showing up by every passing day. As a result, environmental protection is drawing more attentions from the whole society. Materials consumption of construction industry accounts for 15% of total that of the whole society, among which steel, timber and cement account for 20%, 40% and 70% respectively. while energy consumption of construction industry accounts for 28% and environment pollution made by construction activity accounts for 34%.Each year, among 1600 to 2000 million sqm of newly-built housing open to real estate market, 80% is put in a category with large consumption and high pollution. Therefore, it is important to tighten the control and environmental management over project construction.The paper is compiled by analyzing current situation of environment management of domestic engineering construction project together with personal working experiences in engineering construction industry and physical investigation and research on site, focusing on the features of environment management in engineering construction project, dedicatedly studying on how to calculate and evaluate environmental influence factors, on what major damages and pollutions engineering construction project has made to surrounding environment during construction, on what preventive measures we should take to cope with them. The author also spares no efforts to elaborate on how to operate and establish environmental management system for building and construction industry.Firstly, the significance concerning works improving china's environment, necessity and urgency over enhancing environmental management and control for engineering construction project are proposed by analyzing present status, outstanding problems and characteristics of environmental management.Secondly, the author systematically elaborates on how to confirm and recognize environment factors in the course of implementation of environmental management for engineering construction project. Through investigating and researching the conditions of project environment management of China Nuclear Industry Zhongyuang Construction Company for which the author works, The author gives detailed description about principal environmental influence factor in industrial engineering project construction and offers corresponding specific preventive measures and approaches.Lastly, through elaborating on how to establish and operate environmental management system, dedicating efforts to how environmental management works effectively on construction site, a reliable control measure is presented to curb environmental risks. In the first place, the paper is conducive to implementing responsibility of environmental protection of engineering construction enterprise, to steadily improving enterprise's effectiveness and output of environmental management, to safeguarding and alleviating environmental management risks during construction, and to effectively controlling such pollutions and hazards as noises, floating dust, waste water and gas, vibration, solid waste in order to lower energy and resource consumption; in the second place, the paper also plays an indispensable role to give support to environmental management activities, to establish healthy and comprehensive green-construction mechanism, to promote capability of innovation of environmental management for construction enterprise in order to eliminate and prevent accidents and events occurring on construction site.
