The Study On The Port Assessment Based On DEA And MDEA Model

In the recent ten years, the environment of port management has changed deeply, especially with the violent development of container transport, which puts forward high request to the planning, management and development of port. In order to win in the fierce competition, the port should rely on its own survival and development region condition, unceasingly improves its own management, the investment and so on enhances the efficiency. Then they will get the invincible position in domestic and the international competition.First, it analyses competitiveness of the port market, explains the other measures of port assessment briefly and reviews the relevant documents on port assessment. With discussing the appraisal system of the economic efficiency of port resources, this paper detailed introduces the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the improvement of data envelopment analysis (MDEA).Second, in predecessor's foundation, this paper summarized the appraisal factors of the ports. Then applies the model of DEA and MDEA to evaluate the economic efficiency of 12 Standard container berth companies.And then this paper comparatively analysis the relative and effective value which obtains separately from DEA and MDEA.Third,a new structure appraisal system founded bases on the original appraisal system, then the analysis carried on. The result implies that the MDEA mode can fully appraises and sorts all of the Policy-making units which were appraised, providing more complete information for the policy-maker to carry on the decision-making.
