A Preliminary Study On Urban Agriculture And Land-Use

Urban agriculture is submitted with industrialization and rapid urbanization, with the rapid economic development, acute environmental problems, and the idea of sustainable development. Because of the rapid urbanization and the formation of large metropolitan regions, the development of urban agriculture faces new challenges and opportunities. Nanjing city officially positioned on urban agriculture was in 1996. After 10 years of practice, the city of Nanjing in agriculture has made great progress. It has basically completed its suburban agriculture to urban agriculture in transition, unveiling a framework for urban agriculture, formed with its own characteristics development ideas.Development of urban agriculture is of significance not only to provide health, fresh, processed food production function for the city, but also with protecting the city's ecological landscape environment, to provide the public with green tourism and leisure establishment function. However, it should also be aware that the achievement of urban agriculture is a long historical period, there is no uniform model, no timetable, no ready experience to learn, so it requires to be reviewed, studied and discussed.The full text is divided into five sections: The first chapter introduced the background of the research and significance, urban agriculture at home and abroad as well as the dynamics of the study conclude, then stated the ideas and methods used in this paper. The second chapter focused on urban agriculture theory and practice: urban agriculture's contents, functions, types and characteristics; expounded on urban agriculture and land use dialectic; on the relevant urban agriculture's basic theory and evaluation system and domestic and international practice of urban agriculture and comparative studies. From the third chapter on the whole city of Nanjing Agricultural Development Overview, including Nanjing profile, Nanjing city agriculture and the social profile of the masses of urban agriculture awareness. Chapter 4 introduced the development of Nanjing Agri-tourism and land-use, gave an example of Jiangxinzhou Island. In Chapter 5, four communities in Nanjing city was surveyed, the development of community agricultural was studied. Chapter 6 gave a summary of the full text, proposed countermeasures of urban agriculture in the city of Nanjing.The research concludes:①With the rapid urbanization of Nanjing city, urban agriculture becomes a key solution to issues of farmers, agriculture and rural areas. It has been incorporated into city development planning, so the importance of urban agriculture can not be ignored, besides Nanjing has many advantages in the development of urban agriculture;②As the government actively advocated and encouraged the development of urban agriculture patterns -- Agri-tourism, has achieved good economic, social and ecological benefits, received the unanimous endorsement of the public, in the future development of urban agriculture, still continuing to grow and develop as an innovative area;③Urban agriculture as a gray area of the community agricultural, which had not reached the legal status. But its existence is closely related with the current development of the city, its existence is reasonable and inevitable, so how to guide its fine development needs more multi-sectional collaborations and joint efforts.
