| On the basis of widely collecting data, this paper try to study the formation process of physical space in Nanjing city from1927to1937. On the basis of rebuilding the transformation and expand range of urban space in Nanjing, this paper will discuss and analyze the functions of all kinds of groups, including central government, local governments, the private owners and real estate investors, the reality of the problems and conflicts of interest between groups in the formation process of urban spatial form, And provide some beneficial enlightenment for the development of cities today.Although the formation of the urban space in Nanjing from1927to1937was composed of several inseparable and simultaneous link, for the convenience of narrative, the several link will be parts into different sections. First of all a brief review of the development and space evolution in Nanjing city from Ming dynasty will be given, providing the basis for subsequent research; Secondly, considering the fundamental role of road system in the formation process of urban space, this paper will expound road construction and building in Nanjing, highlight differences between theory and reality, and show the evolution process of the road network; Again, in the context of immigrant city, developers must obtain a certain amount of land, this paper will expound ways and contents of land property rights transferring from1927to1937in Nanjing, and use the data of land expropriation and land sale, recovering theirs spatial distribution, making an analysis of some problems in property rights transfer process; Finally, this paper will expound land development activities around several specific issues, including the general characteristics of the land development, control and regulation in land development process and its effect, influencing and limiting factors of land development and utilization, and the change of urban spatial structure in Nanjing city.
