The container terminal as the hub connects different kinds of transport modes and it plays the important role in international transport chain and logistics chain. With the development of the technology and the augment of the throughput and the port scale, the container terminal needs to make the reasonable resource configuration and improve the efficiency of the port logistics network. Therefore, resource configuration and operation schedule is the key issue which ensures itself rational operation and improves the whole transport system efficiency. Resource configuration and operation schedule influence the microcosmic and macroscopic benefit of the container terminal. At the same time, it is helpful to make full use of the port resource, improve the operating ability and the service level of the port.The container terminal logistics system is the complex discrete event system. There is a large amount of decisions in the optimization model about the layout and scheduling problem. It is difficult to express its object and constraint and it isn't easy to solve such problem by the tradition analytic method. Simulation optimization method is the most effective ways to solve this problem, which can accurately reflect the actual condition and efficiently solve specific optimal problems. This paper contains the following aspects.Firstly, it analyzes the logistics network system of the container terminal. According to the desire of the transport modes including the sea, rail and road, it designs the input and output parameters of the simulation model. It also establishes the container terminal simulation model and the synchronized two-dimensional animation.Secondly, it establishes the mathematical model of optimization problems, according to the construction desire. It takes the integrated shortest time that the single container stays in port as the object in order to balance the three transportations' desire including sea, road and railway. It solves this problem through the simulation optimization method and an actual case is analyzed to illustrate the validity and effectiveness.Finally, it takes the shortest time of the working hours as the object in order to reduce the cost of the container terminal operation considering the operation desire and the balance between each sub-system. The scheduling simulation optimization model is established to solve this problem which combines the simulation model and optimization algorithm. The animation shows the operation condition about the optimization scheme and the actual case is used to analyze.This paper makes the research about the layout and the scheduling of the container terminal through the simulation optimization method. It overcomes the shortcomings of the local research idealization and takes every aspect of the port interior connection into account. It also provides an effective solution to solve the optimization problem of complex systems.
