With the rapid increase of throughput of port container,container yard need to improve the efficiency of port operations. Container terminal logistics is an organic system made of interactive and dynamic components, such as containers, ships, berths, yards, tracks, quay, cranes and yard cranes and communications,in a limited terminal space。Since container terminals play a fundamental role in the container transportation to ensure a smooth transfer between different modes of transport, it is very important in internal and international trade. The berth concerned with working efficiency in container terminals has always been the scarce resource, and quay crane is the main equipments of loading and unloading. To use the berth and quay cranes reasonably can efficiently decrease the total time spent at port and improve the service quality,achieving the maximization of port efficiency.There are many factors affecting the efficiency of the port container yard operations. For example, the inaccurate forecast of container throughput, many boxes assignments and the configuration of container terminal.Firstly, introducing the container terminal operation system, including the composition and layout of container terminal, the characteristics of container terminal, handing technology, operation process and scheduling principle, as well as the object of this paper’s study-- Dayaowan Container Terminal.Secondly, analyzing and compare the throughput forecasting models of container terminal, improve combination forecasting model which based on IOWA, and then validate whether the model improve the accuracy through throughputs of Dayaowan Container Terminal over the years.Thirdly, aiming at the excessive operations of turning box, reduce the amount of box turnover by the space optimization allocation model. Compare the stacking style with vertical stacking, stepwise stacking and flat stacking and use MATLAB to validate the effectiveness of the model and the results show that the order of code box determined by this model can effectively reduce the amount of box turnover.Finally, Complete the modeling of the container port production operation system by using tandem queueing network theory, which help the port operators choose reasonable crane and truck scheduling according to different situations and improve the efficiency of throughput. At the same time, this paper gets the conclusion for practical operations of container terminal. The end makes a forecast for the further research.
