With the growing problems of resource shortage and environment deterioration, developing circular economy has been a certain choice for implementing sustainable development strategy in China. As the vital support for circular economy, reverse logistics is being recognized for its economical value and social benefits. Under this background, the paper probed into the recovery and recycling of end-of-life (EOL) vehicles, pointing out that automobile reverse logistics is an important measure to regain the value of waste cars, economize resources and protect the environment. At present, academic research on reverse logistics and EOL vehicles recycling is still new in China. Business management concept of numerous recyclers still remains on the traditional level. For these variety of reasons, reverse logistics system of EOL vehicles with Chinese characteristics has not been formed. Therefore, the paper tried to establish an EOL vehicles recovery and recycling system, which is aimed to be a discussion of the new theme on the one hand and is expected to provide reference for China's EOL vehicles recycling work on the other hand. The framework of the paper is as follows: Firstly, beginning with the concept of reverse logistics, the paper introduced reverse logistics' motivation, treatment methods, and relations with logistics. Secondly, based on the statement of status quo and supply chain mode of auto industry in China, the paper illustrated the content and strategic meaning of automobile reverse logistics, and indicated that defect vehicles recalling and EOL vehicles recycling are two of the most significant problems of automobile reverse logistics. Thirdly, via the comparison of management situations between China and developed countries, the disparities appeared. And the paper concluded that improvement of law, cultivation of industry chain and introduction of high-tech should be the fundamental guidelines of developing EOL vehicles recycling industry in China. Fourthly, according to the theory of circular economy, the paper tried to provide an effective and feasible process flow of EOL vehicles. After taking into account of the situation in China, the paper also tried to establish an EOL vehicles recycling system which is represented by automaker integrative mode. The system is not only congruous with the Extended Producer Responsibility Policy, but also beneficial to integrate numerous enterprises and individuals among the auto industry chain.
