A Statistical Analysis Of Studies On Science Studies Meta-study & Authors In China

Science studies is a discipline which researches on science itself and was born in Europe. Mr. QIAN Xue-sen advocated to strengthen the study on "science of science" in 1977, from then on, science studies has just gone through thirty years in China. Science studies meta-study refers to study on various problems of science study itself, such as science study's evolution history,research object,research content,research method,discipline orientation,discipline structure,branch discipline,developing trend etc. To certain significance, science studies meta-study had inchoation from its birth. Developing science studies meta-study is the internal requirement of science study's development.So far, the world's largest continuous dynamic update database of Chinese journals "Chinese journal full-text database" is the data source of this paper. The statistical analysis of monographs and academic papers on science studies meta-study shows that, as a "shipped" discipline, science studies has never been "hot loved" likes other new disciplines as leadership studies,personnel studies, even in the early days of introductions, the amount of monographs published and the academic papers released have never shown a rapid growth situation, it can be said that science studies is a discipline of "slow warm-fast cool"; the research content of science studies is turning from pure science studies to the integration of science and technology, namely science and technology studies. Most of the monographs focus on special branch disciplines of science studies, and most of the academic papers mainly on exploring the branch discipline of science studies. Study deeply and seriously on its branch disciplines to meet society demand is an important future research direction for science studies.The statistical analysis of authors in academic papers on science studies meta-study can help us to understand the research teams' region,system and institution distribution, that can reflect the radiation scope and the attention of the discipline. The statistical result shows that the institution and region distribution of the research team in science studies present malconformation obviously; high-yielding authors tend to concentrate. According to the situation and characteristics of Chinese science studies meta-study research teams, we should select pertinency of the important funding targets, strengthen the support dynamics of the young and middle-aged scholars, enhance communication and cooperation between each other, endeavor to train scientific research cooperating teams.
