Study On The Trade Deficit Between China And ASEAN

The establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area is a hot issue which is heated discussed in the academe. The bilateral contact in the area of trade, investment and economic cooperation is closer gradually between the two parties and the importance of trade companion relationship to the two parties is advanced continuously after the sign of ACFTA. By the now, China and ASEAN is the fourth trade companion for other side respectively and ASEAN is the fifth export market and the fourth import source. Although the proportion which the number of import and export between the two parties account for is not great, the number increases quickly. China keep the position of trade deficit during the trade with ASEAN with expanding of the trade between the two parties from 1993 and the deficit is expected to be enlarged in the future.The thesis emphasize the reasons which cause the circumstance, for example, the trade structure which is caused by the transfer of international industry chain, the financial crisis of the Asia, the competitiveness and complementarity of the trade, and so on. The thesis analyzes the influence of the trade deficit to the economy of China in the light of macro view and micro view and forecasts the developing trend in the future. The aim of this thesis is to make the readers have a deeper understanding to the trade deficit and put forward suggestions for the government and enterprises on how to handle the influence the trade deficit brings.There are five parts in the thesis. The first part explains mainly the background, meaning, research object, the domestic and foreign research status and the research way. The second part makes a brief introduction to the trade status of China and ASEAN including history situation, the latest developing situation and the situation of the trade deficit. The third part analyzes the reasons which cause the deficit from four aspects applying the theory of Product Lifecycle and the Revealed Comparative Advantage of Li Guanghui. The fourth part analyzes the influence of the deficit to the economy of China applying the welfare economics and economics. The fifth part is the conclusion of the thesis. It draws a conclusion on the developing trend of deficit and brings forward some advice and countermeasures.
