The study of construction land suitability assessment in urban areas was almost based on geographic conditions or engineering geological conditions. But the comprehensive study is relatively little. This paper relies on the geological survey project of Hangzhou city; it supplied enough information, the limitations of the paper are very small. Research breakthroughs in the construction site suitability evaluation of traditional content, change the traditional mode of thinking, attach great importance to the construction site suitability assessment, a comprehensive study of evaluation factors, to establish a scientific evaluation system. According on the geological factors and elements of the socio-economic, respectively analysis the landscape suitability assessment. Landscape suitability assessment, ecological suitability assessment, demand theory, and other relevant theory connect with planning studies, to establish the corresponding suitability evaluation system and then grade the construction land. Key elements include:First, inherit the traditional concept of research, integration of varieties of theories, evaluate construction land suitability. According on the demand theory of Maslow connects with landscape and ecological, based on the socio-economic factors assesses construction land suitability.Second, according on the comprehensive study on evaluation factors, establish a scientific evaluation system.The factors that impact on the suitability of land for building are varieties on space and time. Research is not limited to the conventional method used alone, and the applicability to different methods, particularly in the application of neural network has done study more deeply.According on the evaluation of land suitable for construction of grading results show that Hangzhou to do high-intensity development of urban construction land area of about 585.54 km2, the total area of about 19.468 percent, under the guidance of the appropriate development and utilization of the land area of 1149.34 km2, accounting for 38.2 percent of the total area, rather than as a construction site of the land area of 614.15 km2, or about the total area of the city domain of 20.41 percent, land-use types in another 21.93 percent of the land not be suitable for the development of urban construction, a total area of 659.80 km2. Based on the above results, optimizing the whole region into planning the building, appropriately built-up areas, restricted areas and the building should not be built-up areas and proposed land use district development prospects.
