As an important component of the financial industry, China's life insurance industry has experienced nearly 30 years of development. It has shown its tremendous role in the progress of the whole society. In the process of its high-speed development, good economic environment, benign social development trend provide the favorable conditions. The strong and encouraging policies which are provided by the government guarantee the healthy and rapid development of the life insurance industry. The application of modern high technology and network is a strong driving force. At the same time, the continually improving of national living standards and the increasing demand for life insurance has demonstrated the huge potentiality in the market. Facing with the valuable opportunities for development, Xin Hua insurance company is still in the shallow qualifications in the life insurance industry. What developing strategies it should adopt is just in the aim of the research in this thesis.On the basis of the study of the strategic management theories and strategies, by analyzing the internal and external environment of Xin Hua Life Insurance Company, the thesis mainly analyzes the good opportunities in the aspects of politics, economy, science, technology and culture in the external environment, as well as the internal environmental of the company. In addition, this thesis also analyzes the tough challenges caused by changes in interest rates, asset prices and the stock fluctuations, changes in exchange rates, as well as Catastrophe. And then, the thesis analyzes the advantages and disadvantages in the environment of the industry competition as well as the products, human resources, insurance marketing, insurance services and culture in the company. In the following, the SWOT analyzing method is adopted in analyzing the opportunities and challenges, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The company should position itself as a moderate leader in the industry and take the growth-oriented development strategy. Xin Hua should not blindly pursue the higher, faster and stronger company in the course of continuously innovation and reform. Instead, in order to attain the great objective that becoming one of the domestic financial insurance groups which have the most developing potential, investing value and enterprise responsibility, the company should position itself as a moderate leader in the industry and take the growth-oriented development strategy by providing the most appropriate product and the most satisfactory service, based on comprehensive analysis and understanding of the market situation and deep research on consumer requirement.There are four measures which should be taken by the company to put that strategy into practice. The first one is that it should exert its own spirit to seek innovation continuously, pay high attention to the research and development of new product to meet the need of market, and expand the operation aiming at the segment market. The second one is that it should build some teams of excellent employees via changing the talent notion, strengthening the education and cultivation of knowledge-based professionals and so on. The third one is that it should optimize the present operating marketing strategies and extend the marketing channels by TV-marketing and founding a financial alliance at the same time. The last one is that it should provide professional service in insurance and finance all over the nation by taking the great culture and building up the brand of Xin Hua.
