| Sports tourism is becoming one of the fastest growing areas of sunrise industry as a fact. It has positive economic and social influence to the society which will bring both financial benefits and social civilization to the region. Thus the studies on sports tourism and related issues have significant practical and theoretical effect. Nowadays the country's regional economic development is unbalanced and there is a fierce need of constructing harmonious society and coordinated development in all the regions, the studies on this issue can provide valuable practical and theoretical reference to benefit those regions. In this article there are several research methods been adopted including document analysis, questionnaire survey, face-to-face interview, SWOT analysis, and on-site observation. By analyzing the situation of northwest Hubei sports tourism industry and identifying the problems in it, we provided a Northwest Hubei Sport Tourism Circle solution to solve those problems.Following are the findings of the study:1. Northwest Hubei has abundant sports tourism resource and potential. The recourse in different sub area has its own unique features but the lack of development is the major obstacle of sports tourism prosperous.2. The current industry infrastructure is capable of cater the sports tourism development need. But in the future, as the industry is rapid progressing there should have more complete and higher quality infrastructure be built.3. According to the statistic results, the tourists have a broad age span. 78.4% of the tourists are between 18 and 45 years old and 21.6 % of the tourists are in other age segment.4. The awareness of sports tourism among people is low. People have little knowledge about the benefits and function of sports tourism.5. According to the research, traditional sports are the major projects that interest tourists most including mountain climbing, bungee jumping, and river drifting. Other sports projects are less adopted.6. The influence factors of sport tourism in northwest Hubei region are ranked decreasingly as sports related tourism activities, natural tourism, time, infrastructure, distance, and price.7. Tourists mainly choose those projects that participable and leisurable, and sightseeing or vacational projects are less chosen. Most chosen projects are short distance trip and located around the city which only takes one to two days. The middle or long distance projects s are less chosen besides seven days public holidays.8. The coordination among regions is insufficient. There haven't setup any laws, regulations, or principles to authorize the sports tourism development in northwest Hubei region.Solutions and recommendations:1. The collaboration between sports department and tourism department is crucial for the sports tourism development. The two departments and making decisions together and provide efficient management.2. The focus of sports tourism business should be devoted to develop various sports tourism projects in order to form a complete industrial chain.3. Make more efforts on marketing for sports tourism business to let more and more people be aware of this newly developed tourism choice.4. Support the organizations or corporations which intend to make efforts on the sports tourism business. Give them some privileges to encourage them to put more enthusiasm on the subject.5. When developing sports tourism project there are three mainly concerned issue, project structure, market focus, and customer difference.6. Strengthen the professional sports tourism personnel education to ensure the prosperous of the industry.7. Set up a series of law, regulation, and principle to regulate the sports tourism business and secure tourists' welfare. |
