City Sports Tourism Empirical Research

In the 21st century, with the development of economy, global tourism has a tremendous change in the aspects of patterns and structures. One of the changes is the transformation from sightseeing tourism to the modern one with relaxation, body-fitting and entertainment as the main purposes. Among them, City Sports Tourism is a kind of modern tourist mode with bright prospect.In China with the rapid development of our urban tourism and mass sports, City Sports Tourism has been quietly rising. At present, however, research of City Sports Tourism is far to enough. So by using several methods, including literature analysis, logical and inductive analysis, mathematical statistics, expert interviews and model analysis, the thesis has a research on the basic theories of City Sports Tourism. It mainly analyzes the factors which can greatly affect the development of City Sports Tourism, such as resources, location, transportation and economy.Taking Rizhao—"City of Water Sports" as an example, the thesis makes a comprehensivestudy of City Sports Tourism and the conclusions are as follows:1. On the basis of infrastructure construction and cultural characteristics of one city, City Sports Tourism has the aim of carrying out tour activities concerning sports. It is the important part of sports tourism and urban tourism which can connect these two areas together. According to the perspective of the former one, urban tourism can be achieved by people participating in and enjoying the sports. According to the latter one, sports tourism also has the major factors and contents of urban tourism. It has several special features, which are integrated content, indirect benefits, healthy effects, public spaces and specific people. Generally speaking, City Sports Tourism plays an important role for the local development.2. The development of City Sports Tourism is influenced by city's resources, location, transportation and economy. Hence it should follow some principles to get substantial development, like resources attraction, resources distribution, overall consideration and moderate advance.3. Rizhao City has the advantages of resources, location, transportation and economy with the local tourism. While lower noted degree of tourism popularity and low-level resources development are the unfavorable factors. Along with the Economy Age and some high-level sports games, Rizhao City has to correctly orientate itself as "City of Water Sports" in order to meet the challenges from different cities of China and surrounding foreign countries as well. Because of its special resources and tourists, Rizhao City should promote development of high quality and benefits and try to make up sports tourism areas including the coast, the urban and the suburbs with Shandong Institute of Physical Education as the core. 4. According to the current situation of Rizhao City, the thesis proposes several suggestions: using government-dominated strategy, enhancing propaganda, fostering talents in multiple ways, keeping less-risk and sustainable development, pushing forward with a good tendency, integrating resources and assembling development.
