The 80-year grand-scale fighting course of the Community party is a history of the party leading the Chinese people towards China's independence and mightiness. During this difficult course, our party leaders of several generations, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zeming and Hu Jintao, have all valued the significance of science and technology in enhancing the development and prosperity the nation, and have explored correct ways for the advancement of science and technology. Furthermore, in their theories, they have formulated rich thoughts in this respect.A systematic study and summarization of their thoughts on science and technology, Not only constitutes the main part of inheriting their theories, but also points to a way for the progress of science and technology in the new era.This paper attempts to comprehensively and systematically elaborate their thoughts on science and technology by focusing on and analyzing the most striking features of their thoughts, namely, "Self-reliance, Technological Revolution and Marching towards Science" Put forward by Mao zendong , "Opening to the outside world " and "science and Technology is the first productive forces" laid down by Dend Xiaoping .Reviving the nation by science and technology" proposed by Jiang Zeming, and "Self-Innovation and Construction of an Innovative Country " advocated by Hu Jintao. The paper draws the conclusion that, their thoughts on science and technology are all based on a profound understanding of China' s conditions and productivity in various period of time. Their thoughts are the inheritance, enrichment, and development of Marxism in different stages.Their thoughts, which have come down in one continuous line and kept pace with the times, comprehensively reflects the severe road along which the Chinese Communist party groped after strategies for fostering our science and technology and for realizing socialist modernization.
