In addition to foreign direct investment (FDI) affects the employment number, optimization of the structure of employment and improving the quality of employment have also greatly affected. The FDI of the western region is although small, but employment in the western region still had an impact.This paper is focus on the employment effects of FDI in western region. Both the qualitative and quantitative methods and the normative and empirical analysis are applied to study on the impact of FDI on the quantity, structure and quality of employment. The paper is structured as follows. First, we review the theory on FDI and employment. Then, in understanding the western region overview of FDI, a deep study on the employment effect of FDI is divided into three parts: Firstly, the impact of FDI on the quantity of employment. The qualitative analysis of FDI on employment number of direct and indirect effects, and the western region of FDI to the direct effects and indirect effects of quantitative research results show that FDI in the western region of employment in the short term has the crowding-out effect, but in the long term has a role; Secondly, the impact of FDI on the structure of employment. Empirical research of the western region that FDI mainly on the first and tertiary industries had an impact on employment, and impact on the secondary industry is not significant; Thirdly, the impact of FDI on the quality of employment. The FDI spillover effects on the quality of employment and wage levels in the western region, as an example, were not significant. Finally, according to the analysis of the text before we draw relevant conclusions and the relevant policy recommendations to optimize the western region of FDI to the employment effects.
