The Measurement Of Employment Quality And Its Impacts On Employment Quantity:1990-2009

Employment problem include two sides. One is employment quantity and the other is employment quality. Employment quality is an important section. These two are not only the two aspects of a question, but also closely related. In long term, government and academia paid attention on the resolve and research on employment quantity, but ignore the role of employment quality. In this paper, we will discuss the influence of employment quality to employment quantity from both theoretical and empirical aspects, on the condition of clear definition and accurate measure of employment quality.First, after the review of literatures, employment quality was first defined clearly. Then we construct a stratified comprehensive measure system, Including16indexes. We get the weight of every indicator by PCA. Then employment quality index in china for20year was calculated. Through the analysis of the data from year1990to2009, we can see that the employment quality grew slowly in China. Second, we analyze the influence mechanism between employment quality and employment quantity, by using the labor economic theories related, from three aspects include cost, supply and demand. There are different mechanisms between Short-term and long-term influence. Finally, the related theory was verified by empirical analysis method. We get conclusion that employment quality pay a negative impact on employment quantity in short term but opposite in long term.Through the theory and empirical analysis and combine the reality in China, we get key conclusions. We consider that the attitude to employment quality should be forward-looking. Improve the quality of employment will help us to promote the employment work in China’s current employment situation. In the end, we put forward several policy suggestions for improve the employment quality in the end of the article.
