A Study On Improving The Development Of Zhejiang Province's Trade In Services

With the development of the world economy and the international trade, the economic competition of various countries and districts in the world has focus on the services. Services involve the economic development and the direction of structural adjustment of industries of various countries and districts, as well as the principal and mode of foreign trade. Therefore, not only developed countries but also developing countries pay great attention to them. As the developed province in our country, Zhejiang province developed quickly in the field of trade in services in recent years. So a study on services industry and trade in services of Zhejiang province is significant for the adjustment of the structure of the trade and industries.Firstly, this paper makes introductions and comments on the theories of services and trade in services. As to the introduction of the services industry, we introduce the motives of the development of the services that include both demands and supplies. According to the trade theories on goods, we introduce the theories of the trade in services from four aspects. They are the applicability of the comparative advantage in the trade in services, the modification of the comparative advantage, the decisive factors and resources of the trade in services and the trade in services in the noncompetitive markets. Secondly, this paper makes analysis and comparison on Zhejiang province's trade in services. We start with adecisive factor of the trade in services------service industry, analyzing thescale and structure of the service industry and making a comparison with the other developed provinces in our country. Then we analyze the scale, structure and the comparative advantage of the trade in services. In order to weight the change of the trade structure, we adopt Laurence's Index and Beneficial Structural Change Index, and we get the conclusion that the structure of Zhejiang province's trade in services is promoting. And we adopt Symmetric Revealed Comparative Advantage Index to measure the comparative advantage. We find that the comparative advantage of Zhejiang province is weaker than other selected developing and developed countries. Finally, on the basic of the analysis of the Zhejiang province's trade in services and the tendency about the world trade in services, we put forward some suggestions.This paper is mainly an empirical study. And we use a large amount of data to analyze the Zhejiang province's trade in services. According to the analysis on the present situation, we try to put forward some suggestions on the development of the Zhejiang province's trade in services.
