In 1994, General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT) has passed through General Agreement on Trade in Service (GATS) in Uruguay Round negotiation, which symbolizes the pattern of world trade has changed from goods trade into services trade. Service trade takes more and more important role in countries'economic develop, it becomes an important standard to measure a country's international competitiveness, and its competitive strength declares a country's development prospects for foreign trade in the future. China's accession to the WTO provided the impetus for opening up in the service sector for China's various provinces.It has provided new opportunities for development of trade in services. Trade in services will also be facing unprecedented competitive pressures. As one of the most important provinces in the Yangtze River Delta which is the leader of China's economic development, Zhejiang's services trade has essential influence on development of not only China's service trade but also the whole economics. Thus, study on Zhejiang's service trade international competitive ability has important practical significance. This thesis is exactly under this kind of background.The first chapter is divided into four contents. First elaborates the background, practical and theory significances of international competitiveness about trade in services of Zhejiang. Next, it summarizes and appraises the domestic and foreign literatures which are related to the theory and empirical research of international competitiveness of trade in services. The third section based on the theory of services trade, defines the concept of services trade competitiveness. Last section introduces the research mentality and the frame of this article.The second chapter constructs the theoretical model. The first section elaborates the Porter's diamond model. The second section analysis the applicability of Porter's diamond model, in this section, the article analysis the formation conditions and elements of the international competitiveness of trade in services. Finally, the article build a mechanism for the international competitiveness of trade in services, it is the analytical framework about the influencing factors of services trade competitiveness.The third chapter is about Zhejiang international competitiveness of trade in Services'status. It includes two aspects:export capability and foreign investment ability. The export capability appraisal including RCA, market percentage of service export, TCA and ODS four indexes. The foreign investment ability has two indexes. We can elaborate present situation and the existence question about trade in services of Zhejiang through the indicator appraisal system.The fourth chapter is based on Zhejiang's present situation of trade in services; it studies realistic factors which influences promotion of Zhejiang's trade in services international competitiveness through the analysis frame written in second chapter. It includes six basic influencing factors:elements conditions, demand conditions, related industries and so on. This part selects foreign direct investment, population structure, level of urbanization and per capita disposable incomes and so on as explanatory variables analysis influencing factors empirically.Finally, the fifth chapter, it takes qualitative and the quantitative analysis as base, and combines current environment and challenges Zhejiang faced. It puts forward the proposals and the policies on how to enhance the international competitiveness of trade in services.It analyzes personnel training, foreign capital flows, services, urban centers, manufacturing, service key industries, the government functions totally six aspects.
