As far as May, 2007, 71 foreign banks from 22 countries and regions have established 145 branches in 25 main cities in China, more and more branches are going to be established in the inner land. Currently, these banks covers business from the overall RMB retailing to such RMB derivative business such as insurance entrustment, fund entrustment, agent insurance. On the basis of development of several centuries, foreign banks have accumulated rich experience of management and operation, the delicate and accurate risk control ability, perfect wage and stimulation system, continuous business innovation have constructed its powerful competitiveness. The entrance of foreign banks forces our banks to compete on a equal basis, makes the problem of our banks more and more apparent. The lack of competitiveness of our banks will easily cause"bandwagon effect", which will not only be related to the existence of our financial enterprises, but also affect the development of national economy. So the research of this paper is of theoretic and practical significance.Based on the core competitiveness of management , this paper introduces the characteristics of commercial banks and modern finance, analyzes the actual core competitiveness of commercial banks quantitatively and potential core competitiveness qualitatively, points out enterprise culture, risk control ability, talent stimulation mechanism, business innovation ability are core constituents of core competitiveness in commercial banks, analyzes the situation of our commercial banks, concludes that vigor deficiency in competition main body, backward innovation ability, imperfect risk control system form the lack of core competitiveness of our commercial banks and weaken the profitability of traditional banks, finally provides the countermeasures such as strengthening the enterprise culture construction, improving risk controlling ability of commercial banks, speeding up the innovation steps of business, perfecting talent stimulation mechanism to enhance the core competitiveness of our commercial banks in a all round way.
