A Study On Regional Economic Cooperation Of Around The BoHai Area

Nowadays, with increasingly rapid development of economic globalization and close contact between areas, the regional economic co-operation has become an important way for an area or a city to incorporate itself into a larger scope of development and share the benefits. It also becomes the sure trend of world economy. Therefore, how to seize the strategic opportunity of central government in economy in this unprecedented new period and meet the challenges of economic globalization and regional economic unify poses a central issue to all regions and economic zones.Considering the current situation of which around the Bohai Area has been becoming the third increasing pole of Chinese economy after the Yangtze and Pearl River Delta regions, using the mature theories, experiences and achievements of regional economic co-operation home and abroad, the paper has made a thorough contrast and summarization in such aspects as present conditions, economic status, challenging problems and coming opportunities of the five Provinces and the two Cities around the Bohai Area, at the same time, list the surroundings of economy and society which may influence on the regional economic co-operation. Then, by using Analytical Hierarchy Process, the paper provides the solutions and makes an attempting judgment in working out the guidelines and countermeasures in the next stage of regional economic cooperation around the Bohai Area. It is proposed in the paper that Tianjin should take the opportunity of which Binhai New Area having been officially written in development strategy of the central government; play an active role as the leader of this area, enhance the regional economic co-operation around the Bohai area, especially the key cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province; expand the economic scope and enlarge the economic scale, upgrade the economic standards, and eventually initiate a new phase of regional economic co-operation around the Bohai Area.
