China's metallurgical industry has developed into a modernization industry with the world largest scale of this kind through over 50-year efforts since1949. The achievement is attracting global attention. Under the market mechanism, the layout of our iron and steel industry has been further optimized with the production capability shifting towards south-eastern coastal region and Bohai region. With the market economic mechanism being set up and improved, the pace of reform and open-up speeding up, and domestic and international competition showing the trend of internationalization and complication, our iron and steel companies are facing up with severe challenges in terms of strategic management capability and technological innovation capability.Tianjin Metallurgical Group (Holding) Co., Ltd., the former Bureau of Metallurgy, is one of China's production bases of iron and steel industry in history. Facing increasingly fierce and complex competition, the company, a large corporate group in the Municipality of Tianjin, must seize the strategic opportunity of technological upgrading and structure adjustment in China's iron and steel industry and the development of Tianjin Binhai New District. Under the guidance of the concept of scientific development and the state policy concerning iron and steel industry, we will optimize the product mix, accelerate the establishment of the two bases producing high-level metal products and quality, new and high efficient iron by restructuring in various ways and focusing on building up unique advantages in order to achieve intensive growth. This paper is written in the above context. The main subjects includes analysis and diagnosis of internal and external environment of the company, comprehensive analysis of the company's position in competition, selection and decision of the company's development strategy, strategic control and resources allocation of the company, and the suggestion of the company's strategy implementation.
