Currently, more and more large manufacturing enterprises in China are setting up logistics centers (or company) to integrate their own logistics resources and to provide logistics services with low cost and high value to their customers as a third party logistics. But also reveal out a lot of problems in the implenentation process, such as: outdated logistics concepts, short-sighted strategies, and inefficient logistics management. So, it is important to provide the theoretical guides and practical experiments of the design and operation management for the logistics centers of the manufacturing enterprises at the initial stage.Under the instruction of modern logistics theory, the major content is as follows.(1) Based on the research of System Layout Planning (SLP), a design framework of facility layout that is suitable for the logistics center of the manufacturing enterprises is established. Furthermore, the sorting area of W logistics center is simulated with Promodel, and the layout is Analyzed and improved.(2) In allusion to the numerous materiel and complecated mananement of W logistics center, the tactics that material classification manages are put forward. Furthermore, the effect and problems by introducing the VMI tactics into W logistics center is analyzed, and some improve suggestion are suggested.(3) Based on the discussion of how to collect the inventory information rapidly and accurately by the use of RFID technology, the work processes in the logistics center are designed.(4) Combine the characteristics of W logistics center, a performance evaluation system which contains seven operation aspects and one non-operation aspect for the logistics center is put forward, and a example in operation level is taked to explain how to use this system.
