After several rounds of WTO negotiations, tariff barrier and other traditional non-tariff trade barriers are being cancelled. TBT (Technical Barriers to Trade) has become the first choice for many developed countries to set their import barriers. With the rapid development of export, China is facing more and more trade frictions. And as one of the most important export provinces of China, Shandong province should be facing big challenges from foreign TBT. But we found that the influence foreign TBT brought to Shandong's export trade was not as big as we had anticipated. So this thesis uses both theoretical and empirical analysis to confirm the real effect foreign TBT brought to Shandong's export trade. This thesis starts with summarizing the study methods and results of TBT study at home and abroad and then made theoretical analysis considering the characters of Shandong's export trade. The theoretical analysis shows that the effect foreign TBT brought to Shandong's export trade may not be negative because of the structure of export products and export enterprises of Shandong province.By introducing the gravity model, the author sets an econometric model to make an empirical analysis of the effect foreign TBT to Shandong's export trade. EGLS (Estimated Generalized Least Squares) is used in this estimation process, and variables are selected after three estimation processes. The results of this empirical analysis shows that the Technical Barriers to Trade set by foreign countries will increase the amount of export trade of Shandong province. In the last part of this thesis the author provides some policy suggestions to the government and the export enterprises according to the result罋? theoretical and empirical analysis.
