A Study On Impact Of Intellectual Capital Upon Performance Of Hi-Tech Enterprise

Whit the rapid development of global economy, the intellectual capital has gradually taken place of the traditional factors and become the most important strategic resource today. The capacity to manage knowledge-based intellect is the critical skill of this era. To make the best use of intellectual capital to create value, it is important to do empirical study on the relationship between intellectual capital and firm performance, especially for the Hi-tech enterprises.Based on the past literature review, the paper analyzes the relationship between the three components of intellectual capital, namely human capital, structural capital, relational capital, firm performance. The results of the analysis indicate the influence of different component aspects of human capital, structural capital and relational capital on performance is in specified order. Human capital which prominently influences structural capital and relational capital is the centre of intellectual capital. So the three components of intellectual capital are interacting and interdependent. They jointly accelerate the promotion of performance. When an enterprise is in different stages of development, there is discrepancy and definite statistical regularity among the respective influence of human capital, structural capital and relational capital on performance. The purpose of this study is to understand how intellectual capital affects Hi-tech enterprises' performance and the impact by the interactions of the components of intellectual capital upon Hi-tech enterprises' performance. This paper states the necessity of studying on the relationship between intellectual capital and Hi-tech enterprises' performance, and develops a prototype by analyzing intellectual capital of Lucent Company.
