In the course of market competition, competition among enterprises has gradually developed from the products, technology and brand to the technology standards. On one hand, because of patented technology standards, technology standards have had the real significance of the modern property rights; On the other hand, in the special competitive environment of network industry, the control of technology standards will be the most important market means to establish enterprises dominant market position, to get long-term access to the market proceeds. Therefore, in the network industry, technology standards competition is the most important way for enterprises to participate in the market competition, and the success or failure of technology standards competition will directly related to their survival.As a special kind of enterprise strategic alliance, technology standards alliances can realize the sharing of resources, disperse the cost and risk of technology standards competition, help expanding the market supply of standard products, accumulate the consumer based scale in a short time, and accelerate the technology standards to the dominant market position. At the same time, as a special patent management system, technology standards alliances provide a good solution of the contradiction between patent and technology standards. In short, in the network industry, the technology standards alliance is an effective competition mode for enterprises.In this paper, the life cycle of technology standards alliances can be divided into four parts, formation, development, maturity and decline. Then alliances life stage characteristics will be analyzed. Finally, the competition strategy of alliances will be proposed, on the basis of the analysis of the competitive environment change during the alliances life cycle.
