Human resources are one of a firm's most important assets. The ability to attractand retain talent is rapidly becoming one of the core competences of high performanceorganizations. Because heavy workload can influence an employee turnover and/ora?ect an employee's physical or mental health, performance, or productivity, so it'svery important to both employees and businesses to understand the workload of em-ployee.Evaluation of employee workloadis an effective way to understand the workloadof employee. After refer to the research methods about Evaluation of employee workload pro-foundly, we find out: there are no fair and equitable measures to evaluate of workload. This study extends the data envelopment analysis (DEA) to the discrimination ofrelative workload among employees. The merits of DEA methodology are that theweights of the subscales are not assigned in advance and that it assigns all employeesthe most favorable weights in calculating their overall workload scores. All employ-ees should accept the results of the assessment since they cannot find any other setof weights that gives them higher workload scores under the envelopment constraints. Therefore, employees cannot refute the objectivity of the DEA approach, even thoughtheir weighted overall workload score may indicate that, contrary to their subjectiveimpression, they do not have a heavy workload. The characteristic of DEA allows indi-vidual employee to select the most favorable weights of subscales in calculating his/herworkload score. However, this flexibility generally classifies many employees as heavyworkloads. Due to the restrictions of resource, a company may not reduce all the work-loads of the relative heavy workload employees at the same time, so that this studyapplies the slack analysis based on the peer-evaluation for further ranking of employees'work loads. Moreover, for a multidimensional workload employee based on the char-acteristic of dual problem to improve his/her workload level. For better improvement, this study suggests analyzing the scatter diagram of workload score and performanceto understand the working situation of each employee. Then the decision maker canapply appropriate HRM practices in retaining high performers and strengthening thecapability of employees. The result of study and case research indicates that the means of DEA can theeffective tool for the evaluation and improvement of employee workload.
