Facilities layout planning is one of the most important research areas of industry engineering, it directly affects the entire plant system's logistics, information flow, productivity, production efficiency, production cost as well as production safety. Fine arrangement of facility may saves expense of material transporting, reduces production cycle, speeds up turnover of floating capital, is advantageous for the enterprise to create economic efficiency and to expanse existing space.This article study on the application of genetic algorithms to optimize design facilities layout planning. First of all, expound the the relevant contents of facilities layout planning and genetic algorithms, based on this, study on the genetic algorithms to improve the facilities layout planning.Firstly, this article analyze the content, meaning, and methods of logistics analysis of facilities layout planning. Clear the objective of facilities layout planning, establish the objective function of facilities layout planning. In order to use genetic algorithms to solve facilities layout planning, making the objective function into fitness function; In order to find the best layout of facilities, this article use symbol encoding; In order to improve the existing facilities layout, use the system layout planning to analyze the original facilities layout, use genetic algorithms to operate the original facilities layout, in the end, using flow chart of the application of genetic algorithms receive the best facilities layout.Secondly, In order to introduce the application of genetic algorithms to optimize design facilities layout planning, this article use genetic algorithms to optimize design the facilities layout of Huaye company. In the process of improving facilities layout, making up an appropriate set of genetic algorithms of the crossover and mutation of original encoding, genetic algorithms has procedured, use software of Matlab to find the best facilities layout. Practice has proved that the total logistics intension of after improving facilities layout has been greatly reduced.
