Since having launched the first batch of land consolidation project in 2000, China carried out a widespread practice of land consolidation for the whole country, which has played an important role in ensuring food security and for the protection of arable land and building a new socialist countryside. Under the new situation, socio-economic development gives the new requirements for land consolidation, that is, not only for the goal of increasing the number of arable land, and also necessarily attaching importance to the improvement of quality of cultivated land, the comprehensive agricultural production conditions and ecological environment improvement and regional coordinated development to fully reflecting the basic content of land consolidation. It is the major concern that how can reflect the true value of land consolidation.Beginning from a regional perspective of sustainable development , this paper investigates the method of space-time configuration for the regional land consolidation, and take some areas in Hubei Province for an example to make an empirical analysis by applying the methodology .The main contents and conclusions as follows:First of all, on the basis of briefly analysis to the background of the space-time configuration for the regional land consolidation and its purpose and significance, this paper summarizes the development of land consolidation at home and abroad and the research results and progress from domestic and foreign scholars in the regional land consolidation , which is beneficial to grasp the direction in its entirety.Secondly, this paper defines the connotation of regional land consolidation spatio-temproral allocation after asertaining the basic concept of land consolidation, and analyzes the relationship between regional land consolidation spatio-temproral allocation and land consolidation planning. Also it analyzes the theories supporting the thesis, including land supply theory, systemic theory, the theory of landscape ecology and sustainable development, and the theory of coordination of population and land, all of which establish a theoretical foundation for this paper.Thirdly, study on the spatio-temporal allocation of regional land consolidation. Firstly, in accordance with the basic content of land consolidation, it confirms the goals of the regional land consolidation, which includes the total goal and its four sub-goals. Then it analyzes the main factors which impact the regional land consolidation, also establishes the spatio-temporal allocation index system to assess the regional land consolidation. Then the thesis researches the method of regional land consolidation spatio-temporal allocation, including compartmentalizing the evaluation unit, index system construction, determining the weight of evaluation index, the establishment and application of evaluation model.Fourthly, taking some areas of Hubei Province as examples, the paper makes the empirical analysis for the spatio-temporal configuration of regional land consolidation. In defining the scope of the study region, the paper uses the method presenting itself in the third chapter to appraise the spatio-temporal configuration of regional land consolidation. Based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis, the paper carries on the partial revision to evaluating indicator system according to the actual situation in study region, then using the methods, such as fuzzy mathematics and the sum of weighted index to take a comprehensive evaluation. Finally, it uses the evaluation results to get the spatio-temporal disposition conclusion about study region's land consolidation: According to the score of the quality synthetic evaluation, the thesis divides the study region from the time series into first land consolidation region, medium land consolidation rengion and the common land consolidation region, and intuitively representing the spatial distribution condition of each reorganization region by the graphic document form.
