Suzhou and Wenzhou respectively represent two different models of development in China. Although there is distinction in the mechanism of formation, Suzhou and Wenzhou both have caught the world's attention for the prosperous and developed regional economy. Through study and comparison of the two cities we could provide guidance to the development of Chinese cities, especially the developed cities in the western of China. The causes, characteristics and the problems of two different approaches to development of Wenzhou and Suzhou are analyzed, and the relations between Suzhou and Wenzhou per capita GDP, GDP growth, FDI, industrial structure, degree of reliance on foreign trade, regional policies and the per capita disposable income are inspected with cointegration and error correction model. Empirical analysis indicates: In the long term, a stable equilibrium exists among Suzhou's per capita GDP, GDP growth, FDI, industrial structure, degree of reliance on foreign trade, regional policy and the per capita disposable income; a stable equilibrium exists among Wenzhou per capita GDP, FDI, the industrial structure, dependence on foreign trade and the per capita disposable income. While in the short term, Suzhou's per capita GDP, the degree of dependence on foreign trade affect per capita disposable income in Suzhou significantly; Wenzhou's per capita GDP, industrial structure, dependence on foreign trade respectively affect per capita disposable income Wenzhou significantly.
